My name is John Coghill. I’m a traditional conservative, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, father, grandfather, and former Alaska State Senator. I would be honored to represent you in Congress as we fight for the security and economic prosperity of our great State.
During this time of global instability, we simply cannot allow Alaska’s potential to be locked up by Washington; our future depends on it.
I was born in Fairbanks, Alaska to a blue-collar pioneering family. My father Jack helped write the Alaska Constitution and and served as Lt. Governor. I was born into a family committed to serving the people of Alaska.
I am a Veteran of the Vietnam War era. Following my service to America, I returned home to Alaska to marry Luann and raise my family. I operated a retail business for several years, served 15 years as a teacher then served our State from 1998 to 2009 in the Alaska House of Representatives, and from 2009 to 2020 in the Alaska Senate.
Alaska’s people, lands, waters, and resources are under sustained attack by an extreme Washington agenda to lock up our state and steal the future from our youth. I will fight to NEVER let this happen.
Together, we will Keep Alaska Strong. My vision is to see Alaska grow in international influence as the economic and transportation crossroad of our world, and to see Alaska show America what it means to be a united people free to pursue their dreams and enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Many have inquired about me running in both elections, so to let you know that due to a delay in the Division of Elections, I did not immediately appear as a candidate in both elections, but I AM RUNNING to be your Interim Congressman AND to fill the 2-year seat also. Thank you for your continued support!
